About CHECKiOX

CHECKiOX is a free internet speed test that measures download speed, upload speed, ping and jitter in your browser, with no app to install and no account to create. It is built and operated by TSQ Soft, a software company that also makes business tools such as ATTENDiOX and POSiOX.

Why we built it

Most speed tests are crowded with clutter or hide what their numbers mean. We wanted a clean, fast test that gives a clear answer and explains it in plain language, which is why the site also has guides to reading your results.

How the test works

• Ping & jitter — ten quick round trips to our server measure latency (ping, as the median) and how much it varies (jitter).
• Download — your browser pulls a series of data chunks from our server for several seconds and measures throughput as the bytes arrive.
• Upload — your browser sends random data chunks to our server, which receives and discards them while your browser measures how fast they went.

What the results do and don't tell you

The test measures the connection between your device and the server hosting this site, so the numbers reflect that path. A server closer to you will usually show a lower ping than one on another continent. Wi-Fi quality, other devices on your network and VPNs can also lower your result. For that reason, treat any single test as a snapshot, and run it a few times for a reliable picture.

Your data

We don't ask you to sign up and we don't keep your upload test data. Your last few results are stored only in your own browser. Read the full details in our Privacy Policy.
